Flitting
between alternate universes
of my creation
Weaving
threads of fantasy
into my reality
Living
on my own planet
where words are magic
Do not save me from
Facing
the sneered nicknames
of their own creation
Wincing
as I get expelled
from their reality
Learning
that I live in a planet
where words can wound
And I wonder
why they forget
Walls have ears
and so do wallflowers.

Weaving

Living

Do not save me from

Beautiful...

DeleteIndeed, why do we forget that words can wound?

Thank you for taking time to appreciate it.
DeleteThis is so beautiful especially the ending.
ReplyDeleteIs it inspired by 'Perks of being a Wall-flower'? That's one of my favourite novels.
I haven't read Perks yet, but its title introduced me to the word 'wallflower' first... so I guess my answer is yes.
DeleteI'm glad you loved it :)
Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of the book as I read it. I especially love the last line of your poem. Thanks for writing it and reminding people of both sides (:
ReplyDeleteThe last two lines were the first ones I wrote, actually. Worked backwards with this poem. And they're my favourites as well.
DeleteThank you for reading :)
Such a beautiful, lovely poem.
